Folks here is a bit about Sullivan County for those folks which are think about, looking at Relocating to or have already made it their new home. Plus for anyone which enjoys learn History. This post only covers a bit of the background History of this County. 

I sure have gotten to learn a lot more after I moved to this area, which I did not know before. I will be writing and publishing more posts on my blog which you will be able to learn more about Sullivan County and Towns in Southwest New Hampshire.


Sullivan County New Hampshire, you'll find Sullivan County is located in Southwest are of the State of New Hampshire and this County was named after Brigadier General John Sullivan who lived from February Seventeenth of 1740 through to January Twenty Third of 1795. 
He was a Revolutionary War Hero. plus he was Third Governor of New Hampshire and served as a United States Federal Judge.

Folks Sullivan County came into existence of New Hampshire on July Fifth 1827. Prior to its founding, Sullivan County was part of Cheshire County which is just South of Sullivan. The Town of Newport was picked to be the County Seat as it still remains as to this day. At this time Sullivan County covers an area of 528 square miles and is the home of the following fifteen Towns:



  • Acworth
  • Charlestown
  • Claremont
  • Cornish
  • Croydon
  • Goshen
  • Grantham
  • Langdon
  • Lempster
  • Newport
  • Plainfield
  • Springfield
  • Sunappe
  • Unity
  • Washington


As of 2012 the estimated population of Sullivan County is said to be 43,742 folks ranging of different ages, and Sullivan County employs approximately 280 folks as of this day.
