On each Saturday in the month of August 2015 folks like yourself are invited to come visit this Historical Little Red School House.
Folks the Reprisal Chapter NSDAR extends this invitation to you to attend the Open House of this Historic Little Red School House in the Town of Newport, New Hampshire. You'll find it open between the hours of 1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M.

Folks if you don't happen to know the location of the Newport Little Red School House, it is located on Route 10 (Goshen) at the corner of Pollards Mill Road in the Town of Newport, New Hampshire.
School Open House in the Town of Newport in Sullivan County New Hampshire, folks this District No. Seven Historic Little Red School House served as one of the Town of Newport's first educational institutions for more than Fifty years. The beginning of this one-room school house came about in May of 1811, when the two Selectmen of the Town of Newport deeded a piece of land to build a school at the corners of Goshen and Pollards Mill Road.
The first scheduled school district meeting toke place in the year of 1835, under the maple tree which still stands to this day near the School House. A seven-article warrant was presented at the meeting which the folks of the area elected a Clerk, Moderator along with a Prudential Committee, Vote on an amount of money and adopt measures for building the school. The amount which they appropriated was $140.00 to build this Historical Little Red One-Room Schoolhouse for the kids to attend.
Folks this school was built by a local carpenter by the name of John Gilmore. in the year of 1836 an Outhouse was added to the back of the school hour for the amount of $1.50. Very few of the New Hampshire District School Houses which date before 1850 have survived; still even fewer have survive in essentially unaltered condition. The Newport District No. Seven preserves the appearance of this early Nineteenth Century School House.
This Historic Little School House was open and maintained year-round, it was done mostly due to the fact weather and traveling conditions during the Winter Season made it difficult to get to the school. The budget for the first years of its opening the operation cost was around $50.00 per year. In the year of 1850 the Teacher which taught during the Summer months was paid the sum of $14.00 and the Teacher which taught during the Winter months was paid the sum of $33.00 and repairs which were made cost 89 cents. This Schoolhouse was used up till the year of 1891.
