Honor our Great Country's Military Men and Women Everyday, Memorial Day, an American Holiday which is now observed on the last Monday of May, has always been to show Honor to the many Men and Women which who died while serving in our U.S. Military. Which was originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the year of 1868 following the Civil War (Which the True name is The War for Southern Independence).

For decades Memorial Day was observed on the 30th of May, which was the date a Northern General by the name of John A. Logan had selected for the very first Decoration Day. Then in 1968 Congress passed the Uniform Monday Act, in which moved Memorial Day to be observed on the last Monday in May in order to create a three day Weekend for themselves and other regular Federal Employees. That change went into effect in the year of 1971, and that same Law declared Memorial Day to became an official Federal Holiday. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting Cemeteries and Memorials.

Honor our Great Country's Military Men and Women Everyday, Decoration Day, On the 5th of May,1862, General John A. Logan, leader of an organization for Northern Civil War Veterans, called for a Nationwide day of Remembrance later that Month. “The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land,” he proclaimed. The date of Decoration Day, as he called it, was chosen because it wasn’t the anniversary of any particular battle.

On the first Decoration Day, General James Garfield made a speech at Arlington National Cemetery, and 5,000 participants decorated the graves of the 20,000 Union and Confederate Soldiers buried there. Many Northern States held similar commemorative events and reprised the tradition in subsequent years; by 1890 each one had made Decoration Day an official State Holiday. Many Southern States, on the other hand, continued to honor their dead on separate days until after World War I.

Honor our Great Country's Military Men and Women Everyday, the Evolution of Decoration Day/Memorial Day. Memorial Day, as Decoration Day gradually came to be known, originally honored only those lost while fighting in the Civil War. But during World War I the United States found itself embroiled in another major conflict, and the holiday evolved to commemorate American military personnel who died in all wars.

As a Vet which Served in actual Battles, I ask that each of y'all to please take the time to show your support to each and every Vet, and Honor them by saying Thank You for their Service and shake their hand! Not only today, Veterans Day and Independence Day, but each and everyday y'all come across a Vet. I sure can say that its truly appreciate more than most folks might ever know!

Open Studio Weekend in the Village of Bellows Falls Vermont

Open Studio Weekend in the Village of Bellows Falls Vermont, folks its time to come out and enjoy some mighty fine Art.

On this Memorial Day Weekend of Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th of May 2012, the Bellows Falls and Vermont Open Studio Weekend is being held for folks from all over to enjoy. Chris Sherwin is a Glass Blower, at site Number 31 located at 33 Bridge Street. Mr. Sherwin will demonstrate the Art of Glassblowing for folks.




Open Studio Weekend in the Village of Bellows Falls Vermont, the Exner Block site Number 30 which is located at 9 Canal Street. The Exner Block sure is a mighty Unique Building Circa 1905, which is a imposing Nineteenth Century pressed-tin structure which was built on the banks of the very first chartered canal in our Great County of the United Sates. The Village of Bellows Falls is situated on the Connecticut River, which was once a mighty prosperous Mill Town, and Canal Street held the bustling activities of folks and Shopkeepers which operated their stores at Street level and lived above them.




When Economic Times grew hard, the Exner Block merchants ended up haven to close the doors of their shops. Mary Exner occupied the second and third floors, and her eccentricities rivaled those of famed of the Village of Bellows Falls resident Hetty Green, which was known as the Witch of Wall Street and was actually once the Richest woman in the whole World. For many years Mary Exner actually lived alone with her puppy dog in the vast building and rambling from room to room in the building.




Open Studio Weekend in the Village of Bellows Falls Vermont, when she passed away many years ago, the building sat empty. There were a number of plans for the future of the Exner Block ran the gamut as to what should be done, from limited efforts at restoration to even possible razing for a parking lot. Seeing that the Exner Block is a Historic Building key to the revitalization of the downtown area of the Village of Bellows Falls its sure is mighty nice that it was saved. The Exner Block is such a unique building, which contains many of the original Historic details like wainscoting, Tin Walls and Ceilings, Wood Doors with the Old Glass and Hardware.



The Exner Block building was successfully renovated to create ten afordable living and work spaces for Artists and six retail storefronts with a focus on the Arts. On Monday the 28th of August 2000, the Village of Bellows Falls community celebrated the Grand Opening of the Exner Block with a ribbon cutting ceremony.



Open Studio Weekend in the Village of Bellows Falls Vermont, folks you'll want to note the pressed Tin both on the exterior and interior of the building. The Exner Block currently houses the Project Space 9 which has an exhibit of Paintings by Robert McBride and Wood Sculptures by Phyllis Rosser, who also shares a studio around the corner which is located at 17 Rockingham Street, which is directly across the Street from Vermont Pretzel, Coyote Moon and Windham Antiques. Also located in the Exner Block is Canal Street Beads.


Folks look for yellow balloons and placards which mark the venues of Open Studio Weekend.

 The Southwest Corner to be Performed in Springfield Vermont, hey there folks how about coming on out to take in and enjoy the season opening play.

On Friday the 25th of May 2012 the Springfield Community Players will be opening their season with the enjoyable Comedy-Drama titled The Southwest Corner by John Cecil Holm, which is based in the book written by Mildred Walker. This play is humor of a gentle, whimsical sort permeates the all-too-real story of an Elderly Woman who wants to stay in her Generations Old Home in Vermont.




The Southwest Corner to be Performed in Springfield Vermont, this mighty fine play will be performed at the Springfield Community Players Studio which is located on South Street in Springfield, Vermont. The play is scheduled to be performed as follows, Friday the 25th of May at 7:30 P.M., Saturday the 26th of May at 7:30 P.M., Friday the 1st of June and Saturday the 2nd of June 2012. General admission to enjoy the performance is as follows, $15.00 and $12.00 for Senioes and Students. Call 802-885-4098 to make your reservations.




The Springfield Community Players are able to trace its roots back to the Fall of 1920, which the formation of the Dramatic Society by the Community Club of Springfield. The Community Club's purpose was to create and sustain interest in all matters pertaining to Drama, back in the 1920's sure was a mighty exciting time for the Theaters. All throughout Vermont, and matter of fact all across our entire Great Country there were Community Theater Groups were being organized, and which many of them are still going. Eighty three years later the Springfield Community Players are still going strong, and can claim the title of being the longest continuously actively operating Amateur Theater Group in the State of Vermont.



The Southwest Corner to be Performed in Springfield Vermont, Marcia Elder, a retired village school teacher, lives alone in her family home in Vermont. She is very happy in her lovely country house, but she begins to think about the possibility of finding a companion who will care for her as she grows older. In reply to an advertisement she has put in a newspaper, Bea Cannon turns up. Bea is a widow, energetic, talkative and the kind of person who takes over wherever she finds herself. Marcia agrees to take Bea as her companion, signing a will in which she leaves her house and all its antique furnishings to Bea in return for Bea’s care as long as Marcia lives.




But no sooner than Bea is settled into Marcia’s home than her true nature appears. She’s not actively unkind or selfish, but being insensitive she can be almost more cruel. Bea can understand only her own kind of life, one which centered around confession magazines, television and gossiping with the neighbors. But since none of these things are available in Marcia’s home.

Cruise Nights Benefit in Newport New Hampshire, folks do you remember making your car looking and sounding good to go out cruising on the local strip and going to your local A and W, Mugs Up or other Drive In kind of hang out spot that had Car Hops? I sure do remember those mighty fun times!

Starting on Monday the 14th of May 2012 the Car Nutz Car Club of Newport, New Hampshire will be holding their Annual Cruise Nights on Monday evenings through to the 10th of September 2012. The Monday evening events will be held between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. The Car Nutz Car Club will host their Benefit Fund Raising event in the parking lot of Sugar River Bank, which is located on North Main Street in Newport, New Hampshire.




Cruise Nights in Newport New Hampshire, folks at this event and is open to all types of Special Interest Vehicles and get to enjoy seeing. There will be Food Discounts, Ice Cream, Prizes for Drivers and a 50/50 Raffle will be held which will Benefit David's House in Hanover, New Hampshire.

The Car Nutz Car Club is a not for Profit Social Organization, which was started back in the Spring of 2007 by Wayne Boardman and Merle Sargent. The first meeting was held on the 11th of April 2007 at B & B Campers. Officers were elected and some of the Club's ground rules were lade out and set.



Cruise Nights in Newport New Hampshire, there plan is to first and foremost to enjoy their different Vehicles, whether they be Cars or Trucks. The Car Nutz Club projects would include Cruise Night Events, Group Runs to Car Events all around New England. The Club does not discriminate on Make, Model, Type, Style, Color, Year or the Degree of Completion of a Vehicle. The only requirement to be a Car Nutz's member is to be a Car Nut.

Native American History Program Unity New Hampshire

Native American History Program Unity New Hampshire, folks that visit to read my little ole blogging homestead know that I have done many different blog posts on different blog sites for my different Native American Brother and Sisters. 

One of the main reason I do bring folks blog posts of different aspects of Native American life and events, has to do with the fact that I'm Blood Brother of the Cheyenne Nation. So I'm sure mighty Proud and Honored to be able to write and post of this here Native American History Program schedule to be held in Unity, New Hampshire.

Native American History Program Unity New Hampshire, this evening of Saturday the 5th of May 2012 folks are invited to come attend this here Free Native American History of New Hampshire, and will be presented by David Stewart-Smith. The program is being held at the Unity Town Hall, which is located at 892 2nd New Hampshire Turnpike, and is scheduled to begin at 7:00 P.M. This here Native American History Program is being hosted by the Unity Historical Society with a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council.

Not only will folks attending will be able to enjoy this here mighty fine program, there will also be refreshments served. For more information, folks are ask to please call 603-863-3468

For thousands of years the Abenaki and Pennacook people have lived in New Hampshire, their ancestors are the one which actually gave the names to the Lakes, Ponds, Rivers and Streams, like Lake Sunapee and the Sugar River. Plus the landmark names which folks use in this here area. 

Native American History Program Unity New Hampshire, back when the White Colonial folks first started, which they called settling in the area, but I call what they did was stealing back in 1761. This area was still the center of the Abenaki and Pennacook homeland and there were many Abenaki and Pennacook people living in the area. 

Unfortunately the local Native American people of the Abenaki and Pennacook have been for the most part left out of the History that is taught in the Schools of New Hampshire Towns and the few Cities in the State. The folks which take the time to attend what sure should be a mighty fine program this evening, sure will get to learn about this here little known chapter of the Local History of the Native Americans which lived and call New Hampshire their home.

 Invasive Plants Presentation and Discussion Program to be held in Springfield Vermont, folks sure should find this here program to be mighty interesting to attend, and learn some mighty fine information.

On Thursday the 3rd of May 2012 this program which is titled Wise on Weeds-Exotic Invasive Plants in Vermont. This program is Free for folks to attend, and is being held at the Springfield Town Library, which is located at 43 Main Street in Springfield, Vermont. The program is scheduled to begin at 6:30 P.M.




Invasive Plants Presentation and Discussion Program to be held in Springfield Vermont, this here presentation and discussion facilitated by Michele Delhaye and Jennifer Campbell, who are both Vermont Master Gardeners. This program was created by the Nature Conservancy of Vermont and is Co-Sponsored by the Ascutney Mountain Audubon, plus the Nature Museum of Grafton and the Springfield Town Library. The program is also pertially funded by the Wellborn Ecology Fund.

What are Invasive Exotic Plants?
Invasive exotic plants are non-native plants that invade and alter both natural and managed areas. When invasive, exotic plants reach new areas where they are free from their natural predators they persist and proliferate to the detriment of native plants and animals. It’s important to remember that not all non-native plants are invasive and not all invasive plants are non-native.



Invasive Plants Presentation and Discussion Program to be held in Springfield Vermont, where do Invasive Exotic Plants come from? Most invasive plants come from other continents and countries, but some, like the black locust (Robinia pseudacica) are native to other regions of the United States.


How do Invasive Exotic Plants get here? Ornamental Plant Trade: Horticulturalists and gardeners alike take delight in finding rare, new plants to display in their gardens. Very few of these exotic plants move and invade outside of their landscaped setting, but the few that do cause great harm to our Natural World. Accidental Importation: Some plants arrive accidentally in air or water cargo. Purple Loosestrife is thought to have arrived in North America by seeds stuck to Livestock. Boaters can carry bits of Eurasian Milfoil on their boat from one lake to another and hikers can move Garlic Mustard seeds along trails on their boots and clothes.

Agricultural Operations: Some of Vermont’s most important agricultural crops, such as red clover, are exotic plants. Plants like Reed Canary Grass, however, are invasive exotics that were brought to the US as hay for Livestock.Conservation Plantings: Conservation organizations have also been responsible for the spread of some exotic plant species. Bush honeysuckles were once planted in restoration projects because ecologists believed them to be good habitat and food for wildlife. Research now suggests that Honeysuckle Berries are nutritionally deficient for wildlife and predation increases on bird’s nests built in Honeysuckles. Aquarium Trade: Many of Vermont’s worst aquatic invasive exotic plants were once prevalent in the aquarium trade. Aquaculturalists who improperly dispose of their aquarium plants into rivers, lakes and streams can inadvertently release invasive plants into our waters.




Invasive Plants Presentation and Discussion Program to be held in Springfield Vermont, how do Invasive Exotic Plants act in their Native Lands?  In their native habitats these species are often found in small, well-behaved populations. This is because they occur with other organisms, such as other plants, insects and diseases, that keep the plant’s population in balance. When humans import these plants from their native environment we do not bring along all the other organisms that keep the plant’s populations in check in the new area.



Does the addition of a Non-Native Species increase biodiversity? Yes – if you are only concerned with the number of species in the short term. Invasive exotic plants will become a “new” species in an area but may also decrease the number of Native species found there as well. Purple Loosestrife, now common in many Vermont wetlands will, out-compete rare, Native Wetland Plants that are only found in Vermont or Northern New England. Local biodiversity may increase at the first arrival of these plants but then plummet once the invasive exotics replace the Native Plants. When this happens, global biodiversity will decrease at the loss of the rare plant.

Following habitat destruction, invasive species are the second leading cause biodiversity loss around the world. Forty-two percent of threatened and endangered plants and animals in the United States are directly harmed by the presence of invasive organisms. International, federal, state and municipal governments spend billions of dollars each year to control and rectify the harm caused by invasive plants.

 America's Greatest Yard Sale Event at our Hometown Sears in Claremont New Hampshire, folks y'all sure won't want to miss out on attending this here great event.

On Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th of April 2012 America's Greatest Yard Sale and Special Events will be held at our very own local Sears located at 367 Washington Street in the Kmart Plaza in Claremont, New Hampshire. The yard sale part of the events will be held between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M. There will be Hot Dogs for folks to enjoy off the grill.




America's Greatest Yard Sale Event at our Hometown Sears in Claremont New Hampshire, between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. you'll sure want to be sure to attend both of the following mighty fine events that will also be taking place for folks.




The Claremont Police Department will be doing the following things

• Child Identification Finger Printing
• They'll Check your Child's Safety of Car Seats and Booster Seats
• They'll be doing Bicycle Registrations and Helmet Checks

The Claremont Fire Department will have a Fire Truck there that you can enjoy checking out and learn Fire Safety.


What a mighty fun full two days to pick from to attend!

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Program scheduled to be held in Claremont New Hampshire, folks seeing that I'm a Veteran, I sure can tell you that this here sure is a mighty important program for folks to attend. Every day folks, Employers of all sizes of Companies should market this as being an important program to attend, over any other program or event that is being held this evening. Show that you truly care about folks which have had Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder affect their lives.

On this evening of Wednesday the 25th of April 2012 Dr. Matthew Friedman, whom is the Executive Director of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and the Author of After the War, A Practical Guide for Returning Troops and their Families. Dr. Friedman will be discussing the findings of the pass 40 years of research of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder which has affected the lives of so many during his scheduled presentation this evening which will begin at 7:00 P.M.





Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Program scheduled to be held in Claremont New Hampshire, this important program presentation is being held in the Library at the River Valley Community College, which is located at 1 College Drive off of Hanover Street Exd. also known as Route 120 in Claremont, New Hampshire. There will be Copies of Dr. Matthew Friedman's book available for folks attending to purchase if they would like to.

Some folks just might be asking just what is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, will Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can occur after you have been through a traumatic event. A traumatic event is something horrible and scary that you see or that happens to you. During this type of event, you think that your life or others' lives are in danger. You may feel afraid or feel that you have no control over what is happening.




Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Program scheduled to be held in Claremont New Hampshire, anyone which has gone through a life-threatening event can develop PTSD. These events sure can include the following.

• Combat or military exposure
• Child sexual or physical abuse
• Terrorist attacks
• Sexual or physical assault
• Serious accidents, such as a car wreck
• Natural disasters, such as a fire, tornado, hurricane, flood, or earthquake

After the event, folks may feel scared, confused, or angry. If these feelings don't go away or they get worse, folks may have PTSD. These symptoms may disrupt their life, making it hard to continue with their every day activities.




Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Program scheduled to be held in Claremont New Hampshire, did I hear you ask how does PTSD develop? Will all folks with PTSD have lived through a traumatic event that caused them to fear for their lives, see horrible things, and feel helpless. Strong emotions caused by the event create changes in the brain that may result in PTSD. Most folks who go through a traumatic event have some symptoms at the beginning. Yet only some will develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. It isn't clear why some folks develop PTSD and others don't. How likely folks are to get PTSD depends on many different things.

• How intense the trauma was or how long it lasted
• If you lost someone you were close to or were hurt
• How close you were to the event
• How strong your reaction was
• How much you felt in control of events
• How much help and support you got after the event

Many folks who develop PTSD get better at some time. But about 1 out of 3 folks with PTSD may continue to have some symptoms. Even if they continue to have symptoms, treatment can help folks to cope. Folks symptoms don't have to interfere with their everyday activities, work, and relationships.
